Timms Fowler attended the University of Colorado in Boulder for his undergraduate studies and received his BA in 1978. His first profession after college was in the field of wildlife biology; for five years, Timms worked for public agencies and consulting firms assisting in studies of peregrine falcons, bald eagles, mule deer telemetry, and species inventories. During this time, he also volunteered at Point Reyes Bird Observatory and the Farallon Islands Research Station.
Timms attended the University of Denver College of Law for his legal studies and received his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1986. After graduating he started his legal career in Grand Junction working on the “other side” of personal injury litigation with an “insurance defense” firm. “Defense firms” typically work for insurance companies to defend against legal claims brought against their clients. In 1990, Timms, who loves the outdoors, received the Department of Interior’s National Conservation Award, its highest civilian award, for leadership as the Volunteer Coordinator of Kokopelli’s Trail for bringing together numerous governmental agencies, private individuals, and businesses in Colorado and to create Kokopelli’s Trail. Professionally, he did insurance defense work in Grand Junction and the Denver area until 1994 and also clerked for a Judge in Denver District Court between 1992-93.
In 1994, he moved to Fort Collins to start a family. His work with a local firm there gave Timms experience in many different areas of law and ultimately lead him in the direction of plaintiff’s work, personal injury law and his own firm. He affiliated with a larger Denver plaintiff’s firm in 2003 and gained more experience briefing personal injury related legal issues in trial courts across the state.
The Fowler Law Firm was started in Fort Collins in 2006. Its primary focus is on personal injury recovery. Timms’ working experience from both sides of the aisle, as well as his perspective gained while clerking for a judge, give him a unique view and knowledge many personal injury attorneys do not possess.
Timms is a member of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, the Colorado Bar Association, and the Larimer County Bar Association. He has served as an editor of the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association publication, TRIAL TALK, and was a Board Member for the same Association between 2003-2005.
